As the race for the 2023 presidential election draws, there has been a lot of politicking in the camp of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Recently, the party announced the zoning arrangement for its National Working Committee offices, revealing that its National Chairman will come from the North. This has increased speculations that the party's presidential ticket might be zoned to the South.
One of those that have been widely tipped to win the ticket is former Anambra State, Governor Peter Obi. His impressive track record as a former Governor makes him one of the favourites.

But in a recent event, Obi reintroduced himself to Nigerians in a way that would endear him even more to voters and grow his fan base. In this article, I will highlight two vital things Obi said about himself that could boost his chance of becoming President in 2023.
Obi said he was already a successful businessman and investor before he became governor
Unlike many other politicians in Nigeria, Peter told his audience that he was a thriving businessman and investor before he joined politics. He was also a top player in the highly competitive banking sector before his sojourn in politics, this earned him directorship in several financial institutions and quoted companies. Obi underlined his impeccable credentials in the business world by revealing that he owned several thriving businesses in Nigeria and abroad.
All these he was able to accomplish before he set foot in the world of politics.

Obi revealed these details not to massage his ego, but to put the records straight about his motive for joining politics and to separate him from the crowd of people who see politics as their escape from poverty.
This information could not have come at a better time as Nigeria prepare for the 2023 election, because it will help to boost his reputation as a politician that can be trusted.
Obi also challenged anyone that doubt his source of wealth to come forward and investigate him
Obi is one of the few former Governors who have not kept a single appointment with the EFCC. Yet some people still question his integrity. So Obi has thrown a challenge at them to investigate his claims and record any wrongdoing.
This is rare in Nigerian politics and it goes to show that Obi truly lived above board. The former Governor said this to underline the fact that as President, he can be trusted with Nigeria's commonwealth.

But these two revelations about himself, Peter Obi has shown that he posses two important qualities that are lacking in Nigerian politics. He has an inspiring track record in private practice and also impeccable integrity.
These qualities will win him more fans and will likely boost his chances of becoming President should he win PDP's ticket.
