Abdullahi Sule, the governor of Nasarawa State, informed the people of the state yesterday that if he is re-elected in the state's local government election on October 6, he will grant complete freedom to local council officials in the state.
Sule made the vow immediately after the All Progressives Congress (APC) state Interim Committee Chairman, Dr. John Mamman, presented the party's chairmanship candidates for the October 6, 2021, state council elections to the governor at the Government House in Lafia, Nigeria.
The governor, on the other hand, issued a warning to the candidates running in the upcoming state council elections, urging them to be prepared to work hard if they are elected.
In his words, "I am promising you that my administration will provide elected local government chairmen with complete independence when they are elected into office, and they must be prepared to work really hard."
In order to ensure that the newly elected chairmen can start with a clean slate and without financial stress, my administration is working hard to offset outstanding wage arrears of local government employees, as well as the pension of retiring council officials.
The governor then ordered the candidates who had emerged victorious in the recently concluded primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to return to their respective local government areas and ensure that the party remains united.
Earlier, Mamman, the state Interim Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while presenting the party's chairmanship candidates to the governor, recalled that they were selected from the recent primaries through a consensus arrangement that was conducted across the state's 13 local government areas.
