Throughout PDP's 16 Years In Power, No Gravel Was Dropped On Any Road In The South East – Moghalu

The Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and former Auditor General of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. George Moghalu, has over the years carved a political mark for himself as a party administrator and political appointee.

Speaking to the Sunday Sun, Moghalu described President Muhammadu Buhari as the best in terms of infrastructural legacy, stressing that Nigerians will realize his impact when he leaves office.

He also challenged the new government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu to surpass the achievements of the outgoing administration, just as he listed the mileage achieved by NIWA in its first tenure.

Why would you rate Buhari with his predecessors in infrastructural development?

I want a challenge to demand this infrastructure development. I resist the challenge and give another Niger bridge as an example. We have been getting promises for the project from the south-east for the last 20 years, before Buhari came, but nothing was done.

They flagged off four times. They set up a canopy and flickered it down, but after flickering, as soon as the elections were over, they removed the canopy, and the project stopped. This was the status of the project until Buhari assumed office: its launch, completion, and handover. Another old project is the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway. I am challenged because, throughout PDP 16 years in power, no gravel was dropped on any road in the South East. I want to be shown like this. Just show me one; I'm not talking about two. I want someone to show me just one. And that was the time Southeast sent a Secretary to the Government or Federation (SGF). We had a president of the working committee of the House and a chairman of the Senate Labor Committee. We had the Vice President of the Senate, the Vice President, and the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning. They all sat around the table, but no federal road or even federal project attracted the Southeast.
