Like Lagos, Calabar Was A British Colony But Nobody Refers To It As 'No Man's Land' - Lere Olayinka

As the gubernatorial elections in Lagos draw near, tensions have risen between two major ethnic groups in the state, leading to a heated argument. In response to claims made by certain tribes that Lagos is a "no man's land" due to its history as a former British colony, prominent southwest politician and People's Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Lere Olayinka, took to his verified Facebook page to share his thoughts on the matter.

Olayinka argued that Lagos cannot be given such a title simply because it was once colonized by the British. He further noted that the city of Calabar in Cross River State also underwent British colonialism and foreign influence, yet it has not been dubbed a "no man's land" like Lagos.

The PDP chieftain emphasized the importance of recognizing Lagos as a historical city with deep cultural roots and should not be reduced to a mere British colony. He also urged Nigerians to respect the diverse cultural heritage of the country and refrain from divisive statements that could lead to unrest and tension.
