The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has demanded for an inspection over the election machine used on 25 February 2023.
They also filed an Application for the court of Appeal to stop every other access to the BVAS machine until their inspection is completely observed. The court of Appeal also grant them the permission to inspect the BVAS machine in order to support their evidences.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), protested against the result announced by the INEC chairman Prof Mahmood Yakubu on 1st March 2023.
And also the protesters also demand for a fresh presidential election, the protest was captured together with the PDP Presidential Candidate Atiku Abubakar.
The other presidential candidates faults the INEC for not following the rules provided in the Electoral Act of 2022, and also for not uploading the polling unit results on the INEC result viewing (IReV) portal before the collation of results began.
According to Mr Ayu in demanding for a fresh presidential election, he said accordingly “Cancel the election …and conduct a very credible election that will be respected not only by Nigerians but by the whole international community”.
Mr Festus Okoye in receiving the latter noted accordingly "…I want to assure you that this commission is a listening commission. This commission is a public trust and this commission belongs to the Nigerian people. Our allegiance is to the people of the federal republic of Nigeria”.
He also assured Nigerians that their problem will be salted out, and also promise them that he will make sure that the protest latter gets to the INEC chairman and will be observed.
The statement reads "I am going to go and hand over the protest letter to the chairman of the commission and I want to assure you that the commission will meet over this letter, look into it and address some of the issues.”
