Borno State To Get A Gas Power Plant As NNPC CEO Meets With Governor Babagana Umara Zulum

Borno state to get a gas-powered plant as a delegation from the NNPC visits Governor Babagana Umara Zulum to discuss the success of the work and possibly the way forward.

His Excellency Prof Babagana Umara Zulum Received a high-powered delegation of the NNPC group led by its GMD/CEO alongside other partners such as Greensville gas suppliers, Genesis, and Quest Energy.

The GMD/CEO Alhaji Mele Kolo Kyari disclosed that the main purpose of the visit is to support the Govt and the people of Borno state by setting up a power plant in Maiduguri with the collaboration of the state government, as His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari had declared the next ten years to be gas power years in Nigeria. Therefore, power plants are to be set up to enable the stability of power in Maiduguri and consequently, its environs.

Emergency power stabilization and improvement project (MEPP) has been initiated and when given the opportunity, can set up the plants on a period of 3-4months which will supply Borno and neighboring states with power.

Meanwhile, governor Zulum showed his immense gratitude to NNPC by commending the GMD over his resilience since assumption into office cutting through all the geo-political zones of the country. The governor assured that the Borno state government is ready towards the provision of quality and patriotic leadership and all the necessary things that will be key to see that this project is completed. He also announced the introduction of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Maiduguri to replace the LPG within six months.

The government and people of Borno state will forever remain faithful to God for bringing Babagana Umara Zulum to wipe away the tears of the people. Zulum will be greatly honored. May God continue to shower his blessings on this rare and great man.
