The Calabar-Calabar monument was done in 2007 when the Calabar Carnival had started building momentum during the administration of Donald Duke.
The monument was designed to celebrate the birth of the Carnival and to showcase Calabar as the home and host of the largest street party in Africa.
The monument have been remodeled with beautiful colours, fushion and sparks to celebrate the carnival bands.
The Gov. Ben Ayade administration saw the need to add some fushion into the monuments with a view to keep them preserved for the future.
This iconic image have given Calabar a unique identity. Calabar in particular have blazed the trail in terms of beautifying public spaces with relevant monuments.
One of the sectors through which the governor Ayade led-administration have recorded tremendous achievements is in the ministry of Environment headed by Mr Mfon Bassey.
The ministry is indeed living upto its expectations in general cleanliness of Calabar metropolis which include the timely cutting of grass, waste evacuation, cutting down of dead trees, street sweeping, desilting of gutters among many others.
Keep up the good work Mr Mfon Bassey
