APC officials in Ijesaland have reaffirmed their support for the leadership of former governor Adegboyega Oyetola. The Ijesa APC leaders confirmed that Oyetola still remained their party leader in Osun State.
Speaking on behalf of other leaders, Johnson Ajilore told journalists on Friday at the Ilesa-East APC Secretariat in Ilesa that the former governor has the right under the terms of the party's constitution.
He continued by saying that the "Repositioning Committee," formed by the former governor to put the party back on the route to glory, has the support of the party leadership in the Ijesa-South Federal Constituency. Rauf Aregbesola and Senator Iyiola Omisore are both recognized as the party's national leaders, Party members argued that Oyetola is the party's leader in the state.
"We investigated various and peculiar tendencies that contributed to the party's very poor performance and were deeply concerned that, despite the outstanding performances of our leader, and the immediate past governor of the state, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, we lost virtually in all state constituencies except in Boripe local government."
"Against this backdrop, we as members met and deliberated on the party's future in the state." We came to the following conclusions after extensive and well-considered deliberation: we noted with great joy Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola's excellent leadership, the strength of his unparalleled achievements as governor.
