President Buhari says, the goverment is winning in her war against insecurity. How true is that?

The president disclosed this in his nationwide broadcast to Nigerians to mark the nation’s 61st independence on Friday, October 1, saying that the government is winning in her war against insecurity. But his speech have not gone down well with most citizens of the country as a number of Nigerians have condemned the Independence Day broadcast by the president.

Let's look at some areas the government have failed or malfunctioned.

1. Eradication of poverty.

You will believe me that during the regime of all the past president starting from ex president Olusegun Obasanjo to Good luck Ebere Jonathan, Nigeria and her citizens have not experienced poverty in it's height as she does now.

As at the time President Buhari assumed office in 2015, a bag of rice was around N7,000 while a US dollar exchanged for about N180 even in the black market. “Today, a bag of rice is almost N30,000 while a dollar exchanges for nearly N600. The situation is so bad that Nigeria has been declared as the world capital of poverty. “What is the justification therefore for the President’s claim that the condition the poor in the country is better under his administration than it was under the previous administration?

2. Security.

Nigeria in the past have not been faced with the height of insecurity as she does now. Here are the activities of bandits, unknown gun men and hudlums in a single regime. These set carry themselves as untouchable. Not to mention that of the killer herdsmen and insurgents who are destroying farms and killing farmers.

Nigeria at 61 indeed.
