Nigeria being the giant of Africa, has over the years been the home of investors and a trusted economy.
Besides being the most populous black nation with a whooping 200 million people and still counting, the Nigerian economy is not only a big economy, but one with Great potentials.
However, there has been happenings which have caused allot of individuals to ponder upon.
This announcement didn’t go well with Nigerians who have about 39.6 million Twitter users in Nigeria (according to NOI polls) which amounts to the total population of Ghana.
Announcing this decision by Twitter in a statement, Twitter announced Ghana “as a champion for democracy, A supporter of free speech, online freedom, and the open internet”.
Barely a week after the Twitter announcement, Germany picks Ghana over Nigeria (the Giants of Africa) as the location for the West African Centre For Global Health And Pandemic Prevention.
This announcement was made by the German ambassador to Ghana Christoph Retzlaff in a tweet.
This is coming barely a week after Twitter made the announcement and has left many with questions for the great nation Nigeria.
Nigerians have taken to their social media platforms to express their displeasure not to these companies or organizations, but to it’s own leaders.
They have faulted this turn out of event on the leadership of the country.
One of such Nigerians who have responded to this decisions by Twitter and Germany is a former senator of the federal republic of Nigeria, senator Deno Melaye.
Deno Melaye took to his Twitter verified account to call the president’s attention on this matter.
He urged the president in a tweet, to be worried that for the second time, two great opportunities have passed the country as Ghana is being picked twice over Nigeria. He concluded his tweet by saying the country is sinking.
Here is the tweet below;
“President Buhari should be worried. Twitter picked Ghana as Regional office, Germany again picked Ghana as West Africa HQ for Center for Global Health. Nigeria is sinking and our President is snoring” he says.
See picture of tweet below;
Apart from Twitter and Germany picking Ghana over Nigeria to be the HQ for African centers, you should know that Ghana ranked 13 places over Nigeria in the world bank's ease of doing business index.
Apart from Twitter, Tech giants like “GOOGLE”, HUAWEI, and MICROSOFT (MSFT) are among the international tech Giants who have expanded their horizons to Ghana as Google built an AI lab in Accra, Ghana.
