Let's Talk Politics | Voices of Youth

(1). Tinubu is intelligent and experienced in the politics: Tinubu's voyage in the game of politics did not start today. He started off in politics a long time ago. He was an admirer and follower of the late Sage, Obafemi Awolowo. He learnt some of Awolowo's style of politics as far back as the 1960s during the first Republic. Tinubu also followed MKO Abiola including during the struggle to restore the mandate of June 12, 1993 election that was annuled. He was elected Senator Representing Lagos West in the short-lived third Republic. All these point to the fact that Tinubu did not start politics just yesterday.

Since his days in the Alliance for Democracy (AD), through his days in the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and later in the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Tinubu has been very consistent. The party only metamorphoses to another one. Later on, he and others agreed to a merger in 2014 that brought the APC. His consistency pays off.

He builds a strong and successful party and his team keeps winning. He is a very calculative politician who knows when to agree to a merger that will work. He has not made any blunder in that aspect. From AD to ACN and later to the APC merger, they were all hits as they succeeded. Tinubu takes time to find out before taking decisions or reacting to issues. He does not jump into taking decisions or actions without doing intelligent political calculations. His background in Accounting comes into play in his calculative ability which sets him apart.
