APC Chieftain Defects To PDP

Hon Jacob Orban, member representing Katsina-Ala west at the Benue State House of Assembly, has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to Peoples Democratic party (PDP).
Orban’s defection was contained in a letter to the Speaker of the State Assembly, Rt Hon Titus Uba and read by the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Christopher Adaji who presided during Tuesday’s plenary on 26th July, 2022.
He cited lack of internal democracy in the APC as the major factor that informed his defection, noting that the development had led to the spring up of several factions and aggrieved groups within the broom Party.

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday, met behind closed doors with some notable governors and chieftains of the APC.
The meeting, which took place at his residence in Abuja, had former APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole; Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai; Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle; the APC national secretary, Iyiola Omisore, and the vice presidential candidate of the party, Kashim Shettima, in attendance.

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State yesterday asked the Federal Government to account for the $1 billion security funds jointly contributed by the 36 states of the federation to fight insurgency giving the worsening insecurity in the country.
Ortom noted that security issues should be the concern of all, emphasising that it should not be tailored along political lines as protection of lives and property of citizens ought to be prioritized.
While commending the sacrifices of security operatives in the state, he also acknowledged the challenges security officers in the State face in the discharge of their duties.

The vice-presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People Party, Bishop Isaac Idahosa, said he and his principal Dr. Rabiu Kwanwaso will shock Nigerians when the presidential campaigns start in September.
Speaking while featuring on the Channels TV program, ‘Politics Today,’ on Tuesday, the Edo-born clergyman said those who did not believe in the NNPP presidential ticket will congratulate them in 2023.
Idahosa also described the ticket of his principal, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, as “a healing movement” that would move the country out of its current state of apathy.
According to him, progress, peace and harmony can only be achieved when there is fairness, equity, and justice which he said would be demonstrated by Kwankwaso’s candidacy.
