1. Anambra State :
As it is now, the incumbent Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano is a chieftain and leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Anambra State.

Nkem Okeke, a native of Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State was warmly welcomed by President Muhammadu Buhari and other APC Chieftains at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Anambra State Commissioner of information, Mr. Adinuba has stated that the defection is unconstitutional while the leadership of the APC in the state has welcomed the deputy Governor to their fold.

The recent defection might not be unconnected with the forthcoming gubernatorial election coming up next month.
2. Zamfara State :
Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mattawale is currently in the All Progressive Congress while his deputy, Mahdi Aliyu Gusau is in the People's Democratic Party.

Mattawale, a former member of the PDP defected to the All Progressive Congress some months ago but his deputy refused to join him in his new party. He has vowed to remain in the People's Democratic Party that brought them to power.

Mahdi Aliyu Gusau is one of the youngest Deputy Governors in the country. He is the son of former Minister of Defence, General Aliyu Mohammed.
