As we patiently await INEC to announce the winner of the just concluded presidential election, held on Saturday, February 25, Prof. Anthony Kila, a Jean Monnet professor of International Advanced and Professional Studies, has come out to fault the Nigerian Police for improper discharge of their duties by allowing the occurrence of criminal records in the history of the February 25th elections.
Prof. Anthony Kila made these assertions during an exclusive interview with the Arise News, saying, "It's barbaric and shameful to declare almost a state of war in the country just because of an election. I think someone needs to say this, but no one has. Shame on the Nigerian police everywhere they've been for what is going on, and I even think the Boy Scouts could have done better than they did. The Boy Scouts are more disciplined, and those who knew them confirmed they could do better things.
The police only went to the polling stations as spectators; they couldn't resist whatever form of violence came their way. "It's a very bad thing to do."
