Suspected bandits abduct 17 nursing mothers in Katsina:
Reports from Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State disclosed that 17 women were kidnapped by suspected bandits.
A source from the area further disclosed that the women were intercepted on Thursday on their way to a wedding ceremony.
“The incident happened when the women were on their way from Unguwar Rimi Village to Garin Maigora town to attend a wedding ceremony,” he said.
IPOB, Imo govt in war of words over situation in Orlu
There has been exchange of words between Imo State Government and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) over the security situation in Orlu, which has witnessed confrontation between the Army and members of IPOB.
Leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, in his reaction to the continuous stay of the military in Orlu and its environs, said his organisation would defend Igboland, alleging that “the Nigeria military has, at last, brought war to Biafra land.”
But in a swift reaction, the Imo State Government, in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba, described the allegation of war in the area as “malicious rumours instigated by the enemies of the state government.”
West Africa Won’t Contain Us If Nigeria Breaks – Tinubu
The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, on Friday, warned that if there is a crisis in Nigeria, entire West Africa will not be enough to accommodate us.
The former Governor of Lagos State noted that despite the crisis of insurgency, banditry in all aspects of security, God that made this country will protect us.
Tinubu while speaking at the eighth-day Fidau prayer for the first civilian governor of Lagos State, late Lateef Jakande, on Friday, said there was a need to stop treading the warpath in the country.
Give Bandits Blanket Amnesty – Gumi
Kaduna-based Islamic Scholar Sheik Ahmad Gumi has recommended that the government should grant a blanket amnesty to bandits.
He disclosed that there was a positive response from the bandits that have been terrorizing Niger State and its environs.
Gumi gave the recommendation while speaking with journalists at the Niger State Government House Minna after a closed-door meeting with Governor Abubakar Sani Bello.
“I am here to continue my mission to see that we have absolute peace in Nigeria and try to listen to the bandits’ grievances then see how we can stop this mayhem and carnage that is happening in the country,” he said.
