Two Nigerians Whose Membership of RNP Are Sure To Pose Some Worry To APC and PDP

Photo: Professor Attahiru Jega, culled from the Nation

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, some prominent citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria have decided to create a new political party, Rescue Nigeria Project (RNP), which may serve as third force to challenge the political dominance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Founders of the newly formed Rescue Nigeria Project (RNP) claimed that the party was formed to, systematically, challenge insecurity, high level of nepotism and lack of inclusiveness by the administrations of APC and PDP at the State and Federal levels.

Considerably, there are two founding members of the Rescue Nigeria Project (RNP) whose membership may, politically, worry the executive members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

One, Professor Attahiru Jega is one of the founding members of the Rescue Nigeria Project (RNP) whose membership may, politically, worry the executive members of both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

It is important to recall that Professor Attahiru Jega was the former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and he is one of the prominent Nigerians who came together to establish Rescue Nigeria Project (RNP). Professor Attahiru Jega's membership of Rescue Nigeria Project may worry both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because of the in-house knownledge of the Nigerian electoral system that he must have possessed when serving as the Chairman of INEC.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may be, logistically, worried about the technical know-how of Professor Attahiru Jega about the Nigerian voting culture, voting dimensions and factors that may, strategically, influence the voting system to effect a particular result.

Sincerely, being an academic Professor and political icon, Professor Attahiru Jega's membership of the Rescue Nigeria Project (RNP) could be considered as a political threat that may, possibly, be worrying executive members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Secondly, the Abdulfatai Ahmed's membership of Rescue Nigeria Project (RNP) could be considered as a political subject that may call for series of political deliberations by the executive members of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Abdulfatai Ahmed was the former governor of Kwara State and a keen loyalist of former President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki who is a member of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Abdulfatai Ahmed's membership of the Rescue Nigeria Project (RNP) may, probably, be causing confusion in the cycles of some political analysts and executive members of both APC and PDP. This is because Abdulfatai Ahmed was never heard of having political rift with his political leader, Senator Bukola Saraki. Therefore, his membership of Rescue Nigeria Project (RNP) could be considered as an anticipated exit of a political camp from the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
