President Mohammed Buhari is the current president of Nigeria,he came to power following his defeat to Dr Goodluck Jonathan, but before then he has served as a former as a head of state the Head of State from 1983-1985 after he came into power through a coup d'etat. His leadership during this period was also described as Buharism.
During his youthful years he got married to his first love and childhood sweetheart,a woman named safinatu in 1971, she was equally from Kastina state which is Buhari's home state, she was a graduate from teachers training college, after her graduation she married president buhari after 14 years of courtship.
The Nigerian civil war broke out shortly after the merger of Muhammadu Buhari and Safinatu Yusuf, and was one of the troops deployed to fight on the Nigerian side.So the war ended in 1970 and they were married in December 1971.
However their marriage didn't last for long before they divorced bitterly following an accusation that safinatu was steady receiving money from Ibrahim Babangida who overthrown her husband and locked him away in Prison, their divorce was finalized in 1988 and Buhari married Aisha in 1989,their short-lived Marriage was blessed with 5 kids, unfortunately safinatu passed away in the year 2005 after a brief illness, she was aged 53.
