Is Gov. Hope Uzodinma Set To Clash With Emeka Ihedioha Over Imo State IGR Profile?

It is arguable that since the Imo state Governor Senator Hope Uzodinma came into office in January, 2020, through a Supreme Court’s judgement, he has been struggling to win the heart of the people, with some believing that the Governor is an imposition on the state. With this, Governor Hope Uzodinma has continued to make moves to win the heart of Imo people to himself.

Recently, the Governor in an attempt to convince the people that his administration is working hard to reposition Imo for growth, alleged that the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR) has increased from N600 million to N1 billion since he came into office in January, 2020. In response to the claim made by Governor Hope Uzodinma, his predecessor, Emeka Ihedioha has revealed that his Rebuild Imo administration increased Imo state IGR from N245 million where he met it to N370 million the following month.

As reported by Daily Trust, Ihedioha who was speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Chibuike Onyeukwu, alleged that Governor Hope Uzodinma’s claim is far from the truth. He went on to reveal that Ihedioha’s administration generated a total IGR of N6.659 billion within the 8 months it lasted, with the highest monthly IGR being N951.648 million.

Following the counter-claim by Emeka Ihedioha who enjoyed an overwhelming support from the people, we may begin to wonder if Governor Hope Uzodinma could be set to clash with him. Recall that for a while now, the Governor has been at loggerheads with his fellow APC Chieftain and former Governor of the state, Senator Rochas Okorocha over some issues. Again, the Governor who is still trying to win the heart of the people may not be willing to tolerate counter-claim that could ridicule his administration.

With this in mind, we may begin to wonder if the Governor could be out to clash with Emeka Ihedioha now that the former Governor countered Governor Hope Uzodinma's claim on the state's IGR profile.
