2 Politicians Who May Be Considered For PDP Vice Presidential Slot

The PDP won't conduct any primary election for the vice presidential slot. Most of the time, the presidential candidate singlehandedly chooses the running mate. But while the 2023 presidential election is approaching, there are two politicians who may be considered for the vice presidential slot.

Since the PDP has thrown the competition for the presidential ticket open, it is possible for any politician to win it. And that means the vice presidential candidate can come from either northern or southern region. And attention would be given to the two regions as far as the slot for the vice presidential candidate is concerned.

Mr. Nyesom Wike appears to be the leading politician who can become the vice presidential candidate of the political party. Mr. Wike, the Rivers State governor, can't be up and doing in the PDP without some ambition. His activities show that he would want to move higher in his political struggle.

Mr. Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, made a list of politicians who have shown interest in the party ticket. He mentioned Aminu Tambuwal, Bala Mohammed and Atiku Abubakar. He didn't mention Wike's name at all. If Wike really wants the ticket, he will have talked. And Makinde would have included him in the list.

If Wike has interest in the vice presidential slot, he may want to run along with the Sokoto State governor, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal. The combination of the two men can go a very long way to make the PDP take over the control of the country from the All Progressives Congress in 2023.

Likewise, Makinde didn't include Rabiu Kwankwaso in the list of top politicians who have revealed their plan for the next presidential race. But there is no way the former Kano State governor can be excluded from the whole stuff. He is a leading politician from the northern zone.

It's been argued that the PDP can combine Mr. Rabiu Kwankwaso with former Anambra State governor, Mr. Peter Obi. None of them has come out to make declaration for the 2023 polls. However, Mr. Peter Obi was the vice presidential candidate of the party in 2019. He won't want to surrender yet.

Since more powerful politicians have shown their interests (as stated by Seyi Makinde), Mr. Rabiu Kwankwaso may be considered for the vice presidential slot if a southerner wins the PDP ticket.
