By June 2021, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) 'll hold it's National Convention to elect a New National Chairman. Already Some Political Bigwigs within the ruling party are already warming up to vie for the Number Position. Notable among these Top Politicians are
1. Senator Ali Modu Sheriff
His first attempt as a Politician was his Election as the Senator representing Borno Central Senatorial District under the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC) in 1992. Although his tenure was shorten as a result of annulment of June 12, 1993 elections and subsequent abolishment of two party system. The Businessman turned Politician returned to the Senate in 1999 under the ANPP platform, serving till 2003 when he was elected as Governor of Borno State. He won a re-election in 2007 and served until 2011. Sheriff decamped to the PDP in 2014, serving as the party's National Chairman between February and August 2016. He later returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in December 2017.
2. Vice-Admiral Murtala Nyako
The 78years-old Nyako is a Former Governor of Adamawa State serving from April 2008 till July 2014 when he was impeached by the Adamawa State House of Assembly. He was a Member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) from 2006 when he joined Politics until November 2013 when he decamped to the then newly-formed All Progressives Congress (APC). The Retired Naval Officer was a One-time Military Administrator of Sokoto State between February 1976 and December 1997 under the then Military Head of State, General Muritala Muhammed. Nyako also served as Chief of Naval Staff from 1990 to 1992.
3. Hon. Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari
Yari, 53 is the immediate past Governor of Zamfara State who served between May 2011 and May 2019. He was Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) from 2015 to 2019. Yari who belongs to the ANPP bloc of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) served as the ANPP Zamfara State Chairman and later became it's National Financial Secretary. He was a Member of the 6th National Assembly where he represented Anka/Talata/Mafara Federal Constituency from June 2007 to May 2011 under the defunct ANPP platform.
