SENATOR Ben Ayade, the Cross River State governor says he would join other progressives across the country to make sure the All Progressives Congress, APC, retains power in 2023.

Speaking on Saturday in Calabar at the APC State congress, Ayade said the state is solidly in the hands of APC and those who are outside should join the train now before it gets too late.

"APC is the way to go and we are totally committed to make progress in our state and would join other progressives across the country to make the party remain in power".

Bandits abduct another monarch

Armed gunmen have abducted the village head of Banye in Charanci local government area of Katsina State during an attack on Friday night on the community.

The village head, Bishir Gide, is related to Bala Almu Banye, a federal Commissioner at the National Population Commission.

Details of the attack are still sketchy but a younger brother to the abducted traditional ruler, Nura Ishaq, confirmed the abduction.

Confusion as Enugu APC conducts multiple factional state Congresses

Members Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Saturday, conducted multiple factional state congresses at different venues in the state.

As of the time of filing this report, the congress at the state secretariat of the party at Park Avenue, GRA, Enugu, was still ongoing as the delegates were still casting their votes.

The congress is being supervised by members of the Enugu State Congress Committe led by Akania Jonathan. They were sent to the state by the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.

EPL: Salah finally equal Drogba's goal record

Liverpool ace, Mohamed Salah, on Saturday equalled Chelsea legend Didier Drogba’s record as the highest scoring African player in the English Premier League.

Salah equalled Drogba’s 104 goals after scoring a goal in Liverpool’s Premier League 5-0 win against Watford.

The Egyptian international scored his 104th league goal to extend the lead for Liverpool to 4-0.

Liverpool defeated Watford at Vicarage Road, thanks to three goals from Roberto Firmino, a strike from Sadio Mane and a goal from Salah.

Crisis rocks Taraba APC

The wrangling in the Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has again taken a different dimension as the leadership of the contestant forum called for the immediate dissolution of the state caretaker committee.

The forum has asked the national body to send in a credible person that will conduct the state congress, which could not be held on Saturday due to insecurity.

While speaking with media practitioners on Saturday in Jalingo through their Chairman, Alhaji Buba Madugu, and the Secretary, Sani Abdullahi Tullu, the forum lamented that the committee charged with the responsibility of screening contestants did not deem it fit to discharge their responsibilities.
