According to reports, Nnamdi Kanu slammed Africa’s Richest businessman, Aliko Dangote for allegedly exploiting Nigerians via the Dangote Cement Company. The IPOB leader alleged that the Dangote cement is sold cheaper in other countries while the price is doubled in Nigeria. Aliko Dangote is the founder of the Dangote Group, which is West Africa’s largest conglomerate. The company also owns the largest cement producer in sub-Saharan Africa. Aside from cement, the company also produces products such as sugar, salt, flour, steel, oil, and gas.
Nnamdi Kanu's accusation of Dangote is baseless and without facts. Dangote is not Nigeria's biggest problem. He is more of a blessing than a problem to Nigeria. The efforts and contributions of Dangote Industries Limited to the growth and development of the Nigeria economy is unmatched and commendable. In many ways the path of Africa's richest man maps the progress of the country's economy for decades. Dangote’s patriotism remains unparalleled when it comes to investment and that his investments in many sectors have been a key factor behind Nigeria’s improving economy. Dangote is doing so much to positively impact the lives of Nigerians through the production of household products.
A major challenge for the Nigeria government has been efforts to address the teeming youth population, who need to be employed gainfully. Dangote continues to be the largest employer of labour in Nigeria, with hundreds of direct and indirect employment opportunities. Dangote being aware of the need to provide the youths with skills and put in place structures. He established the Dangote Academy which provide fresh graduates in diverse fields, with technical competence needed to work in different units of Dangote's businesses. They also continuously provides skill acquisition training for youth in their host communities, where they are trained in various fields to become more useful members of the society.
