During an appearance on News Central, Public Affair analyst Adewale Ajadi warned Nigerians not to let themselves be manipulated by politicians to sow discord after the 2023 election. Mr. Adewale claimed that not a single international observer has expressed concern that the electoral commission rigged the outcome of the presidential election. He made it clear that it is morally acceptable for a disappointed politician to go to court and expose electoral flaws.
However, Mr. Adewale gave INEC an excellent grade for its work. He claimed that it was difficult for a government agency to roll out a brand-new initiative without encountering some problems. He claimed that the commission's difficulties in carrying out the election were exacerbated by the large number of voters. But he emphasized that this in no way suggests that the election commission was tampered with. It was a free and fair election, as the international monitors had concluded, he said.
He warned that BVAS and IREV were not the same thing. There is no evidence that BVAS, which verifies the identities of voters, did not function as intended. Nobody from outside the country has claimed that the Presidential election results were tampered with by INEC. Two elections have successfully used the BVAS. We shouldn't make things more complicated than they already are.
