Opinion: 2 Things That May Happen If APC's Ticket Goes To The North

Two things may happen if the All Progressive Congress (APC) members decide to zone the 2023 general election tickets to the northern part of the country. The politicians in the southern part of Nigeria have been demanding the tickets, but the administrative members of the party have yet to reply to the request. As things are going on in the party, there are tendencies that the presidential ticket may go to the northern part of the country.

The All Progressive Congress (APC) Congress (APC) was created in the year twenty fourteen to unseat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Politicians from the southern and northern parts of the country joined forces together to defeat the opposition party. The newly formed All Progressive Congress (APC) won the election in the year 2015 with President Muhammadu Buhari as a candidate. In the subsequent election, President Muhammadu Buhari was also allowed by the party to contest.

Now that his tenure is coming to an end soon in the next two years, the southerners are also demanding a chance to benefit from the party. The party has been favouring the interest of the northerners for the past eight years. Now that the party is planning on using a consensus candidate as the flag bearer of the party in the year 2023 presidential election, there are some indications that a northerner may be chosen again to represent the party.

If the presidential ticket of the party goes to the north, two things may happen to the party. Firstly, the affected members of the party may leave the party to form another party to fulfil their ambitions. Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) can serve as an alternative for those that want to leave the party for another one.

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) used to be a vibrant political party until when the party was dissolved in the year 2014 to form the All Progressive Congress (APC). If the newly formed political party does not favour the southerners again, the affected members may want to go back to their root, which is the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

Secondly, another thing that may happen to the party is that there will not be unity among the members of the party again. Since the members of the party are not ready to dance to the tune of the southerners, there will not be well-structured coordination in the party again. These aforementioned issues are the ones that may arise if the All Progressive Congress (APC) zones its presidential ticket to the north.
