The former Governor therefore admonished members of the party to unite in order to remain in power after the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
His words:" Today, as a party, we are only six years in power. Our aspirations are for the ruling APC to be in government in the next 50 years without interruption.
"Buhari brought that to the table and what are we going to face after the exit of His Excellency, the President? It is we the APC members, especially the stakeholders, that will tell the world that we are capable of getting their trust even when he finishes his tenure and leaves the office. Doing that, you need all members. You need people who know the history of the party, where we are coming from, who know the history of Nigeria, someone who has been in different aspects of life and we need to work together. We need to build bridges across the country".
The former Senator however said to achieve that would not come on a platter of gold. He said it requires hard work. The former Governor added that he needed to reach out to all leaders to the party, the youths, the women and different organizations to inform them on the importance of them coming together to get the APC to remain in power for about fifty years.
Sheriff is one of the politicans vying for the position of the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
