In accordance with the instructions of the Inspector General of Police, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police in charge of the governorship and state assembly elections in Sokoto State, CP Shettima Zanna, has ordered a restriction on all vehicular movements on roads in the State from Friday at midnight to Saturday at six o'clock in the afternoon, with the exception of vehicles providing essential services like ambulances and fire trucks.
"Also prohibited from following their principals and lawmakers to polling places and collation centers during the Elections are all security assistants to VIPs and escort. Quasi security organizations and state-established private security groups are also prohibited from managing election security". CP claims
The public is strongly advised to strictly abide by the restriction order, and any individual or organization that tries to test our resolve by using political violence or by disobeying this order will face severe consequences.
Parents are urged to discipline their kids and dependents appropriately. The CP is assuring the citizens of Sokoto State that the Nigeria Police Force will work in close coordination with the state's other security organizations and with INEC's leadership to ensure that there is a safe and secure environment in which people can easily exercise their right to vote.
