Agitation For Restructuring: Kingigbe Supports Negotiation For National Unity

Former Secretary to the Federal Government SGF Ambassador Babagana Kingigbe has said that "the unity of Nigeria is negotiable. He maintaining that even the unity of a family is negotiable. Even the constitution of husband and wife is negotiable,” he was quoted as saying while delivering his speech at the Sun Newspapers’ Awards where he was a recipient.

According to him, negotiation is the solution when people are having differences over issues that have a direct impact on their lives. When citizens feel aggrieved, authorities concerned should consider their condition so that they make the decision that suits them best.

He emphasized the need to co-exist as one Nigeria, affirming that "It is not enough to say I do not fare well where I am. So, I am going.” Secession is not the best option, any region that chose to go away might suffer the consequences because they will remain in Nigeria land.

However, Arewa Consultative Forum ACF who seem to be satisfied with the current political structure has disassociated itself from Ambassador Kingigbe, arguing that is a personal opinion that does not reflect their wish.

The political elite should work together to preserve the unity of Nigeria, unity of Nigeria will bring about political and economic stability, address security challenges among others.
