Today, the 17th day of July, 2020, in what was described as an August visit, the good and appreciative people of Yenebebeli community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa state, in the South-South Region of Nigeria, took a delegation led by the Women Leader of the community Chief (Mrs) Enizibe Mary, to the residence of Hon. Oforji Oboku, Member representing the loving people of Epie-Atissa in YELGA Constituency 1, in the Bayelsa state House of Assembly. Their mission was to applaud the Honourable Member for his kind gesture that brought them a good road network and light project.
The delegation, which was dominated with notable women of the community, brought food items and other stuffs, to reciprocate Hon. Oforji Oboku's gesture that keeps putting smiles on the faces of the entire residents of the Yenebebeli community.
Yenebebeli community is one of the many communities that surrounds the Bayelsa state capital; Yenagoa. But unfortunately, the community had suffered setbacks in terms of good road and light. Their suffering often gets worst during the rainy season, as the only access road linking them with their neighbouring Yenaka community, always gets flooded, muddy and catastrophic. But to their amazement, Hon. Oforji Abonsizibe Oboku came to their aid in 2018, while he was still a Caretaker Chairman of the Yenagoa City Council, and constructed a very solid road, and upon that, did a light project in the community, and since then, the both projects have amelioriated their ordeal, and, as well, given the community a facelift.
Since the execution of the two gigantic projects in 2018; two years ago, the Yenebebeli people have taken it as a point of duty to, every year, visit Hon. Oforji Abonsizibe Oboku, in a bid to appreciate him for the long term suffering he took off their feet. And today, as their custom is, a delegation stormed the residence of the Assembly Member in the early hours of Noon with gifts, just to say "thank you" to him.
Speaking at his Opolo residence, the delegation, on behalf of the Yenebebeli people thanked Hon. Oforji Abonsizibe Oboku for giving them the road and light they are enjoying till date, and also thanked him for the good works he has been doing in his Constituency. They said: "It has been over two years since you took the bold step to give our community a facelift by constructing a befitting road for us. And year in, year out, we will continue to appreciate your kind gesture, because whenever it gets to the rainy season, we are being reminded of the hurdles we used to go through when the road was bad. And in consonance with our annual norm, since you constructed the road, and gave us light, we have come, again, to say thank you, for all the good things you have been doing, and will continue to do, for our people."
