Group asks state government to investigate allegations of forgery on kingship

A human right organisation, the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ) has raised an alarm over the illegal pronouncement and approval of Prince Taiwo Abdulrasaq Adegboye as the new Alawo of Awo in Egbedore local government area of Osun State by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

Prince Adegboye who was appointed as the Alawo in the wee hours of 14th September, 2021 has been alleged of obtaining the right to the throne on forged and fake documents.

CHRSJ also alleges that the Osun Governor in appointing Adegboye has violated two court orders which sought to restrain the parties including the Osun State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and others to maintain the status quo in the matter.

The human rights organisation added that in this decision, the state government had taken impunity to the next level by poking fingers into the eyes of the laws of the land.

In a press release signed by Michael Agaasi, the CHRSJ Assistant General Secretary and made available to DAILY POST Sunday, the organisation called for the immediate arrests of the impostor Oba Taiwo Adegboye and Prince Hamzat Abidoye for perpetrating forgery with the intent to defraud the state government.

CHRSJ in its quest to pursue justice in the matter revealed that it had written letters of petition to the Osun State Government, Inspector General of Police, Director General of the Development of State Security, National Judicial Council and other concerned authorities.

It advised Taiwo Adegboye to resign honourably from the position of Alawo he presently occupied before his forced ouster will bring disgrace to him and the revered stool.

It also called on the Osun State Government, the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to set up an independent panel of enquiry to investigate the allegations of fake and forged documents levelled against the newly appointed Alawo, Taiwo Adegboye before it will raise a credibility and integrity problem for the adminstration.

Meanwhile, attempts to get the new Alawo, Taiwo Adegboye to react to the matter proved abortive as calls him were not going through.
