In a statement issued by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari through the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, the President has commended the 9th National Assembly for bringing dignity to the country. The statement was issued to felicitate with the National House of Assembly as they celebrate their first year in office.
On behalf of Nigerians, and the Federal Executive Council, President Muhammadu Buhari sends warm greetings to the leadership and members of the 9th National Assembly on their first anniversary, extolling the sense of duty and diligence in handling issues related to the development of the country,” the statement partly read.
Nigerians have however reacted to this message saying the legislative and executive arm of the country are in a "scratch my back and I scratch yours" relationship. They pointed out Buhari is only saying they have brought dignity to the country because they have approved his request to take huge loans and drive the country into generational debt.
They further pointed out the slashing of health and education budget to enable the approval of #27 billion for the renovation of the National House of Assembly does not bring dignity to the country. Nigerians expressed their dissatisfaction at the 9th Assembly saying they are bunch of rubber stamp lawmakers.
Do you agree with Buhari, has the 9th Assembly truly brought dignity to our country?
