What Nelson Mandela Said About Nigeria And The Truth He Wanted Every Nigerian To Know

Nigeria has received a lot of attention since its independence. It is a country blessed with people of various ethnicities living together in peace and harmony. So much good has been said about Nigeria, the Giant of Africa.

Nigeria has been successful in attracting investors from various countries, and she is blessed with talented individuals who represent her well both at home and abroad.

Nonetheless, Nigeria faces security challenges in all six geopolitical zones. Bandits have been rampaging in the Northwest, Boko Haram has been laying ambushes in the North East, unknown gunmen have been causing havoc in the South East, and cattle herders have been destroying farm produce in the South West.

Despite these challenges, Nigeria continues to be admired by many countries. Several prominent men have spoken positively about Nigeria both now and in the past. Whatever challenges the country faces, she will undoubtedly rise again.

I came across a speech made by Late Nelson Mandela about Nigeria while surfing the internet. The statement he made inspired me and convinced me that Nigeria is a truly great country.

The Truth He Wanted Every Nigerian To Know:

In his speech, Nelson Mandela stated unequivocally that every Nigerian should be made to understand the truth. He stated that Nigeria is Africa's backbone and that she must be respected. Nigeria, he said, is a source of pride and confidence. Africa will never be respected unless Nigeria earns it.

All those calling for secession must understand that we have only one country, Nigeria. We must all work together to restore the country's greatness. Let us not lose sight of the fact that the goal is to create a nation where peace and justice reign.

Agitation for Biafra and the Oodua Republic isn't what we need at the moment. If there is one thing that should be on the minds of every Nigerian, it should be how to move the country forward. We must do everything humanly possible to see that the labour of our past heroes isn't in vain.
