ESN is a body of sacrificial youths who are determined to sacrifice their lives in other to liberate the Igbo race from Nigeria. The group has passed through a lot of stages before it arrives at it's present name ESN. In this article, we did our research and we found out that Biafra army of old is what metamorphosed to ESN today unknowingly. This is the fact because of the same idea the old Biafra and ipob soldiers have.

In 1976, it was called the Biafra army. It was the group of young soldiers who decided to followed their then leader Ojukwu. According to them, Nigerian government then was marginalizing them. The Nigerian/Biafran war was fought for three years and about 5million people lost their lives. The spirit of Biafra did not end at the end of the war.

Many Biafran leaders emernated to continue the long struggle towards freedom. Nwazuirike is one of the renounce leaders that spearheaded the struggle assisted by NNamdi Kanu. Nnamdi Kanu was expelled from the group because he considered Nwazuirike to be pushing the struggle in kit gloves. Nwazuirike's group is called MASSOB. Many people believed that Nwazuirike is been bribed by the Nigerian government that is why he is not pushing the struggle. There is no fact to the claim of Nwazuirike receiving bribe from Nigerian government so we considered the claim as "people's insinuations".

When Nnamdi Kanu was expelled from the MASSOB, some members of the MASSOB followed him; those that believed that his frugality is the best way to fasten the Biafra dream. Nnamdi Kanu formed the IPOB to channel the course of actualizing Biafra through frugality. He used a good means to propagate his campaign, social media. Nnamdi Kano has the highest number of followers on social media compared to any governor of the southeast as his followers claimed.

Nnamdi Kanu after establishing ipob, decided to form his South-east security network called Eastern Security Network to curtail the deadly activities of herdmen as the group claimed.

The federal government viewed the ESN as a bad organisation because it was formed by a man that ran away from awaiting trial. If that security network was formed by the government or Igbo elders, the federal government would have permitted it. During our interview with some of the elders that are transparent in Enugu and Abia, they told us that if ipob would persevere a bit and work with eastern governor, the good plan of eastern security network will materialized. But because the youth are tired of waiting for the governors that they believed have been politicised, they decided to take the laws into their hands which is bad.

During our research and field work interview with some of the Igbo people in Abia, Enugu, Owerri and and Anambra state, we were made to understand that one of the weaknesses of ESN is too much publicity i.e media propagation. They reveal everything they do on social media to attract people's attention thereby selling out their activities. " They know that Nigerian government would never be ridiculed by allowing people to kill their securities and go scot-free. ESN killed some soldiers during shoot out in Orlu forest and decided to video the incident and shared it on social media. The aftermath of their thoughtless action was the bombing and shootings carried out recently by the army."

We found out by some people that in truth, ESN is not a match for Nigerian army. They are fighting a gorilla war and the volunteers of the army are inexperience compared to the Nigerian army. That also is a great disadvantage for them. War is not only about the weapons but skills in combatants. They need to have a communication skills, geographical skills and technical know how.

We keep on praying that peace should return fully to our beloved country Nigeria and the marginalisation of the minority group be curtailed. We are currently conducting interviews with some of the ESN on their challenges and the sacrifices they are making for the Igbo race. We hope to publish it soon.
