Twitter has established its West Africa office in Accra, Ghana. This was disclosed by the President of Ghana on Monday afternoon. The news elicited a lot of reactions among Nigerians on social media.
Many argued that the office should have been located in Nigeria but because of the human rights record of the present administration, Twitter chooses Ghana ahead of Nigeria.
He said: "I did not comment on the Twitter choice of Ghana as their Africa base. Many have the same names as me. It will be mistaken of anyone to attribute a quote to me or even the Presidency that my verified handles did not bear."
Nigerians have reacted differently to the statement made by Garba Shehu, see some of the reactions below.
Alabi said: "I think your comments don't matter. What should concern you is that Google's Africa Artificial Intelligence lab is in Ghana, Microsoft is in Ghana and now Twitter. And Nigeria is the main market in Africa and we are ignored. This should disturb you if you love Nigeria."
Kunle said: "The only way they know how to be in the news and relevant is by fake news.
So don't be surprised if they fake all"
Olayinka said: "Some mistakes are deli takes, they are deliberate evils done to drag the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari in the mud!"
