Labour Party is Not a Christian Party, It Helped Muslims Win Political Seats -PDP's Mike Omeri

The former DG of the NOA and a well-known PDP leader, Mike Omeri, has refuted claims that Christians predominate in the Labour Party. During his interview on Channels TV, Omeri revealed how LP sponsored candidates who are Muslims to win the National Assembly election.

Mr Mike Omeri | The Guardian Nigeria News - Nigeria and World News — The Guardian Nigeria News – Nigeria and World NewsAddressing the topic, Omeri said, "Appointing people from a particular group as though they are the only competent people can lead to the Obidient movement. People who have capacity and skills are ignored in favor of the unequal disposition of a president. The Labour Party unseated Philip Aduda, a Christian, in the FCT in favor of its candidate, who is a Muslim. Can we say the Labour Party is dominated by Christians? No, it is not.

He added, "Something similar happened even in Okowa's Delta State and Nasarawa State. However, in Nasarawa, some people who have failed to deliver have resorted to playing the religion card to get the attention of the electorate. In Nasarawa State, our people said that they would be Obidient and among them were Christians, Muslims, and people from other religions. However, the name-calling started in Nasarawa after LP won the presidential election in the state. They are doing this because a Christian candidate has a chance to win after we have voted for Muslim candidates for many years. The politicians are behind this move.

Omeri also spoke concerning how the Obidient movement performed beyond expectations after the top parties said they had no structures.
