Some political gladiators in the Southwest region are clamouring for the chairmanship position of the party to be zoned to their geo-political zone because the region is yet to produce the PDP chairman since 1999.

Although many influential politicians in the southwest region including former Governor of Osun State, Olagunsoye Oyinlola is interested in the coveted seat, it should be noted that anybody that emerges victorious in the National Congress will surely face some hurdles.

1. How to bring back the party's bigwigs that have defected to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) :
The new chairman and his team will try as much as possible to bring defectors back to the party. In recent months, the People's Democratic Party has lost many bigwigs of the party to the APC.

Among the influential party chieftains that have defected to the ruling party includes Governor Ben Ayade of Cross Rivers State, Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State, Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State and many other financiers of the party.

2. How to win the 2023 presidential election :
The new Chairman will also focus on how to win the Presidential election in 2023. The main aim of any political party is to win the election and PDP will try as much as possible to emerge victorious in the next governorship election in Ekiti State and Osun State and the general election in 2023.
