Stepping on the scriptural belief, the Honourable Member Representing the good people of Yenagoa Constituency 1 in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly Hon. Oboku A. Oforji yesterday, the 28th day of July, 2020, stormed Obogoro town, to lay the Foundation Stone of a new Modern Primary School.
Hon. Oforji, who was handsomely dressed in a School Uniform; to showcase he was once a pupil, was received and welcomed to the community by the Paramount Ruler and his cabinet members amongst mammoth crowd and thereafter, taken to the school premises where erosion had eroded the entire school building.
The honourable member who was emotionally touched haven seen the ugly situation, and which he had initially thought the project will last for four months, reversed his thought and assured the people of Obogoro that, in Two Months, a brand new modern primary school building will be commissioned in order to safeguard the educational foundation of the pupils through which the minority voice can be heard.
Stressing further, he used the purview to call on the State and the Federal Government to give a serious attention to Ogu, Akaba, Famgbe and Obogoro communities which erosion has affected severely due to there landscape.
Speaking on behalf of the community, HRH. Chief T.M Igodo thanked the honourable member for coming to their aid by writing the wrong. He narrated how the erosion has affected the pupils and that, almost two years, the pupils have stayed out of school. He further used the medium to call on the State Government to come to their aid before the community is entirely washed off by erosion.
Towing the line of the paramount ruler, the Ag. Registrar of the Institute of Tourism, Catering and Hospitality who is from Akaba Community, Dr. Ovienadu Torutein thanked the honourable member for the kind gesture given to the community. Torutein who was elated by the gesture, advised youths of the community in assisting to make sure the project goes on smoothly rather than to cause anything that may delay the promised two months.
It will be recalled that Hon. Oforji has promised the people of Obogoro community two weeks ago to lay a foundation for a new school building on the occasion of the inauguration of the Epie-Atissa Youth Council held in the community and today, that promise has come to fruition.
Amongst his entourage were his wife Mrs Oforji Augusta, Dr. Ovienadu Torutein,Hon. Godson Torukuru, Chief Lambert Ototo, Chief Victor Akenge, Chief Goody Francis, Chief Couple Ayamalem, Chief Emmanuel Akenge, Chief B.Y Ogon, Hon. Freedom Osain, Hon. Lecky Tamama, Hon. Mandy Akpalo, Hon. Austin Sambo, Mr Proctor Iluma, Chief Abiah Joseph, Hon. Kennedy Appah, Hon. Tobi Andy among other top stakeholders of his constituency.
