One Key Thing Wike May Note As Peterside Talked About Rivers 2023 Polls

A key stalwart of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Peterside Dakuku, has passed an assuring comments on the future of the Rivers State chapter of the party. A former member of the House of Representatives said that the political party is now ready to take over Rivers State. There are certain things Mr. Nyesom Wike needs to note immediately.

The political party has been struggling to have a taste of political power in Rivers State. The party has struggled so hard, but internal matters stopped the party in 2015 and in 2019. The PDP benefitted from the APC crisis in Rivers State because the last two gubernatorial elections were walkover for the PDP.

Mr. Dakuku talked about the readiness of the APC at the party Congress held yesterday in the state. Of course, Mr. Nyesom Wike shouldn't have been worried about the events within the other political party. But the congress held by the APC should be a signal that the party is coming up gradually and the PDP days may be numbered.

Mr. Wike should seriously take note of the fact that the APC would pose a very big challenge to the dominance of the PDP in Rivers State. There was no stiff opposition against Wike in the last two polls. The All Progressives Congress couldn't present a candidate because of the internal wranglings.

There was a rancour between Mr. Rotimi Amaechi and Magnus Abe to the extent that the APC couldn't present candidates for the elections in the state. But now that a congress has been successfully conducted, Mr. Wike may be worried about the future of the PDP.

Once the APC is able to get it right in the state congress, the rest is simple. This is because the state executives would be able to organise a valid convention to pick the party candidates for the next general elections in Rivers State. Furthermore, the former House of Representatives member recognised the position of Rotimi Amaechi in the APC. Dakuku called Amaechi the leader of the APC in Rivers State.

Note that both Wike and Amaechi are bitter rivals when it comes to Rivers State politics. Mr. Wike needs to worry about the political status of his rival, Amaechi. The statement of Dakuku shows that Mr. Amaechi is gradually leading the APC to progress and success in the state and this should be worrisome.
