The crisis rocking the ruling party came to the fore when factional groups in some states went ahead to hold parallel congresses and elected their state chairmen and other executives.

Some political players in the country have kicked against the development and called on the leadership of the ruling party to intervene and resolve the crisis rocking the party.

Firstly, the Peoples Democratic Party noted that the inability of the All Progressives Congress to conduct a successful and crisis-free congress in many states explained why the ruling party has not been able to manage Nigeria effectively. PDP alleged that it is greed for power that caused the parallel congresses in many states.

Secondly, the Peoples Democratic Party alleged that the lack of internal cohesion in the All Progressives Congress may implode the ruling party very soon after the outcome of the state congresses proved all is not well with the party.
