The Governor Simon Bako Lalong Administration has recorded another feat in boosting the commercial status of Plateau State. In recognition to his commitment to the development of the state, the Local Administration in Jos North has renamed the popular "Farin Gada Tomato Market" as "Lalong Tomato Market".
The Management Committee Chairman of Jos North Local Government Shehu Bala Usman disclosed during the commissioning of the concrete paving and cold room at the market in Farin Gada, Jos on February 8 2021.
He stated that the decision to rename the market in the name of Governor Simon Lalong became necessary due to his contributions in the sustainance of peace and peaceful co-existence among the citizens of the state.
The newly renamed Lalong Tomato Market is popularly known for the sales and purchase of perishable products such as tomatoes, onions, vegetables, potatoes, cabbage and other farm produce which are also transported to neighboring states and bordering regions
The Chairman of Jos North Local Government Shehu Bala Usman further disclosed that the newly renamed Lalong Tomato Market symbolizes a conducive ground for people from all walks of life and ethnic backgrounds coming together for the purpose of business activities, which signifies the peace and togetherness Governor Lalong's Administration preaches.
The Chairman called on the traders to reciprocate the Local Government gesture by paying in their rent and taxes into the coffers of the Local Government for the overall development of the area.
On his part the Chairman "Lalong Farin Gada Tomato Market" Nasiru Sani and the Market Women Leader Paulina Bulus appreciated the APC led administration for responding to their concern and pledged their Commitment to ensure proper maintenance of the market###.
