The former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has sent his goodwill message to Nigerians as they mark the 61st year of their country's freedom from the colonial administration. The message sent by Goodluck to Nigerians is an optimistic message to give Nigerians a foresight into what the future holds for them and their Country. Jonathan mentioned some salient points in his message and it is expected of every Nigerian to take note of these points so that they will work towards a better future for the country.
One of the great points in his message is the ability of the country to overcome the threats and trials faced at this moment; Goodluck Jonathan raised the hope of Nigerians with his message and encouraged them to keep pushing for the good of the nation, despite the numerous happenings that have rendered a lot of people hopeless and frustrated as citizens in Nigeria. Jonathan stated that Nigeria can win against the odds posing threats to the comfort of citizens. This message of hope and clue into what Nigeria can do as a nation will only materialise if citizens give their heart to the positive things in the country without looking for a means to break away.
Another thing mentioned by Jonathan which could be of help to Nigerians is RESILIENCE. As a people, Nigerians should be ready to keep going despite all the challenges and odds against their day to day activities. It will only get better if the people give their heart to positive energy, as a people with a strong mind, it is necessary that they continue to work with an unweary and a strong heart. The situation might look uncomfortable now but it will get better if the people continue to adapt to the challenges. Rome wasn't built in a day, much energy and resilient hands were effective in the construction of the city, so if Nigerians have a mind to see the country grow they need to be resilient and give no room to depression.
Lastly, Jonathan mentioned that Nigerians need to consider TOLERANCE as they hope for a better nation. Every citizen in Nigeria must take on a tolerating spirit. Giving your neighbouring tribe a chance to mix with you without hate will help Nigeria and if the tribes in the country give themselves a chance to live and depend on one another without hate, there is a very high probability that the country will achieve its goals in no time.
I hope Nigerians consider these points as they go in this new year. I pray that the Almighty God heals every sad heart and touch the heart of the leaders to do the right and good things demanded of them.
