Zainab Aliyu Habib is a name that will continue to linger on in the memory of many Nigerians in the year 2019. Many Nigerians in and outside the shore of the country, irrespective of their religion and ethnicity showed their displeasure for the unjust and wrong detention of a young Nigerian lady, Zainab Aliyu by authority of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Zainab Aliyu was alleged to have smuggled 2000 packs of forbidden drugs, suspected to be Tramadol into the country. However, drug trafficking is a capital offence in Saudi Arabia as it attracts death penalty if found guilty. Zainab who has been in death detention for few months, but with agitation many Nigerian youths on social media using the #FreeZeinab and her fellow school mates holding rallies and protest demanding for her release. Then in April last year, Nigerian government as directed by President Mohammadu Buhari sent the Attorney General of the federation to intervene in the matter.
Another thorough investigation was carried out and Ms. Aliyu was found not culpable of the offence as it was discovered that the drug was planted inside her luggage unknown to her by suspected drug dealers here in Nigeria. However, at the end of the struggle, the whole Nigeria was in euphoria as the news of Zainab’s release broke into the air. We thank God that Nigeria does not lose another vibrant and promising youth into the painful death of unknown circumstances.Zainab and her Dad after her was released
However, after her release in April, Zainab started her one-year NYSC programme and finished in July this year 2020. Congratulation to her family and all Nigerian youths in general. These are the pictures of the beautiful damsel.
