Palliative has become the new mode of political campaign in Nigeria. The givers seem to be more interested in the media attention than the fact that the poor are being catered for. That is why you see them cover items that cannot reach even 1% of the population. Palliative for few is not palliative. Palliative should get to all, not some.
The Federal government palliative is the worst! I call it huge figures without concrete evidence.
In the face of the zero price of crude oil, I dare say that the Federal government of Nigeria, having failed to speedily review the price of PMS and AGO to reflect same, it is stealing from the people.
Fuel and other products should not exceed N50 per liter as things stand, globally. I urge our government to do the needful lest we should see them as thieves. No one can justify the humongous price at which petroleum products are sold in the face of the total collapse of the price of crude, globally.
Our governments at all levels should repent. Even the state governments that is allegedly administering palliatives politically should change. Palliative means alleviation of the suffering of the masses without eradicating the problem. Rivers State Government cannot continue to discriminate against non-PDP and non-indigenes in the state. The scourge bites everyone.
Perhaps a lot of us find it difficult to differentiate between palliative and party grant. May God help us all. We have grossly dysfunctional government at all levels. It is shameful indeed.
