As the consultation and permutations continues ahead of 2023 Kogi governorship election, there is need to take a look at the possibility of the current Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Edward Onoja, winning the state governorship election in 2023 and return the Kogi seat of power to Igalaland.
Edward Onoja is already seen as possible replacement of Yahaya Bello in 2023. Currently, Edward Onoja is the leader of Kogi East and as such, winning APC governorship primaries in 2023 wouldn't be a problem for him.
Edward Onoja has been able to establish strong political network across the State which he used to deliver Kogi East for APC in 2019 elections. It is believed to be a preparatory ground for winning 2023 governorship election in the state.
Another important factor that may also help Edward Onoja to takeover from Governor Yahaya Bello in 2023 is his strong relationship with the Governor Bello.
Edward, an Igala man has proven his loyalty and love for Yahaya Bello since the first day he declared his ambition to contest for Kogi Governor in 2015 till he miraculously came from behind to win the election. This is more than enough reason for Yahaya Bello to trust him and handover power to him in 2023.
Edward has been loyal to his boss, they are more of friends which has given more reasons to believe that Edward Onoja may likely takeover from Governor Yahaya Bello in 2023.
