The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike reportedly threatened to bar the former governor of Akwa Ibom State and the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, from using a road Rivers State government is constructing.
According to the Rivers State Governor, he made it known that there was an agreement between the Rivers State government, the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC and the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, on how to contribute to the construction of the road, but unfortunately, Akpabio and his ministry has not contributed even one Naira.
Based on that note, I really think that hat the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike is wrong for threatening to block or bar Godswill Akpabio from making use of the road.
As we all know, the money that is being used for the construction of the road belongs to the governenmt and not Wike's personal money. Therefore, he has no right to decide who uses the road and who will not use the road.
As long as am concerned, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike can only bar Godswill Akpabio from using the road if he is constructing the road with his personal money.
On the other hand, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike will not be a governor forever. His tenure will come to an end in 2023, so when his tenure eventually comes to an end, will he still be able to stop Akpabio from using the road? I think the answer is no.
Though the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio did not do the right thing by not supporting the Rivers State government as it regards to the construction of the road, but I believe strongly that Gov Wike is also wrong and has no right to stop Godswill Akpabio from using the road.
I know that some people will kick against what I have just said here, but the fact still remains that we are all entitled to our own opinions and I have just aired mine.
