The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been witnessing an internal problem for the past few weeks. The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has made it clear that he will not leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for any reason, despite the crisis rocking it.
Governor Nyesom Wike made this statement on Thursday at the Rivers State Peoples Democratic Party Stakeholders meeting, held at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Wike said his reason for not leaving the party is to preserve the sanity of the party by fighting to uphold the unity, equity, inclusivity and peace in the party.
Wike further said that he is a man of character, unlike those members in 2014 at the Eagle Square who could not keep their word and walked out of the party to join All Progressive Congress (APC). He said that they will remain in the party and fight for sanity, and those that leave in the battlefield would be seen as weak people.
Governor Nyesom Wike reminded the members that the party's constitution states clearly that elective and party offices must be shared among the zones. He wondered how fair it is for the northern region to take the positions of the presidential candidate, the National Chairman of the party and the Director General of the campaign. And critical decisions are being made by these key officers of the party.
