Nigerian Politician Iyiola Omisore Joins APC

Iyiola Ajani "Otunba" Omisore is a Nigerian businessman and politician, who was Deputy Governor of Osun State from 1999–2003. Subsequently, he served as a member of the Nigerian Senate for Osun East from 2003 to 2009.

Senator Iyiola Omisore committed a political career in the Osun State Governorship Election in 2018 when he surrendered from the Governorship race and allied with the All Progressive Congress to win the election.

It was reported in 2018, "The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Senator Iyiola Omisore, whose support is considered crucial in winning today’s rerun election has announced his party’s alliance with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)."

Former Senator Iyiola Omisore became the running candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) after former Senator Ademola Adeleke was preferred to Iyiola Omisore for the Governorship Candidacy at the People Democratic Party (PDP).

The Osun State Governorship Election was declared INCONCLUSIVE by the president, Mohammadu Buhari. With the top 3 candidates being Senator Ademola Adeleke, Current Governor Gboyega Oyetola and former Senator Iyiola Omisore. The election was to be conducted in certain areas of the state to conclude the result. Governor Gboyega Oyetola was announced winner on 26th of November, 2018 and will be in government until the next election in 2022.

Former deputy Governor Iyiola Omisore said, “God made (the) relationship between me and the APC possible. Osun is one now and Ife remains the source from where all of draws our strength."

“I don’t have to tell anybody that I am with the party. Any wise person should know where I belong.” Omisore concluded
