Ogun ASUSS Chairman Akeem Lasisi Becomes State New TUC Chairman

Chairman Of Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools ASUSS in Ogun State, Comrade Akeem Lasisi has been elected as the 7th Chairman of Trade Union Congress TUC, Ogun State chapter in an election and a change of baton in the affairs of the Congress that was held at the auditorium of ASUSS in Abeokuta on Thursday 19th, August 2021.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Akeem Lasisi thanked his immediate predecessor, Comrade Bunmi Fajobi, mni for his role at seeing him emerged as his successor and the believe and faith which Fajobi has in his capacity,competence and character to continue the struggle from where he had taken it to. Lasisi also expressed his appreciation to other affiliate body of trade Union Congress in the state for the opportunity given him to serve the workers in the state.

In his words, Trade Unionism Of the 21st Century has gone beyond those days when labour activist were inside trenches as if they were guerilla warlords.

He further stated that it is no longer fashionable to bang the table in an attempt to make their Employers listen to them, saying that Labour unionist now engage, interact,discuss,negotiate,interface, consult and evolve more efficient and effective means of relating with their Employers for the good of their colleagues before resulting to confrontation as the last option.

The new TUC chairman also urged the state Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun to honor the advice his late father, Dr Emmanuel Abiodun fondly called " Baba Tisa" gave him to prioritize the welfare of workers and pensioners in the State when he assumed office.

The National leader of Academic Staff Union Of Secondary Schools ASUSS, led by Comrade Samuel Omaji and TUC led by Comrade Quadri Olaleye including Comrades from other States of the Federation, attended the occation.
