The Nation newspaper has reported that pressure has been mounted on former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Peter Fayose to run for the chairmanship position of the main opposition party, the People's Democratic Party.
Ayodele Peter Fayose, a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party is one of the most respected and revered leaders in the party. He is the immediate past Governor of Ekiti State under the platform of the People's Democratic Party.

It was learnt that a delegation of prominent party leaders, including governors, National Assembly members and ex-governors visited the Governor in Lagos State, urging him to join the race ahead of the forthcoming party's convention.
