Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, bowed to pressure on Monday and formally ordered commercial banks to follow the Supreme Court's ruling, which requires the usage of old N, 1000 and N 500 notes as legal money until December 31, 2023.

Also, he declared that until the end of the year, the old N200, N500, and N1,000 would be accepted as legal money. Emefiele claimed that the choice was made at a meeting with the Bankers Committee on Sunday.

The misunderstanding regarding the legitimacy of the old naira notes has been resolved as a result of the development. The move is also anticipated to lessen the suffering of Nigerians who have experienced great challenges due to a shortage of new naira notes in the wake of the contentious restriction on the use of older notes.

Bola Tinubu, the incoming president, has declared that he has no favoured candidates for the Senate and House of Representatives leadership positions in the tenth National Assembly. At the meeting with newly elected members of the National Assembly in Abuja, Tinubu, who was there in the person of Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima, revealed this.

Shortly after the meeting, Abdulmalik Bungudu, a member-elect for the Bungudu/Maru Federal Constituency of Zamfara State, confirmed this to our correspondent. Speaking in Hausa, Bungudu said that Tinubu had informed participants that he had no favourite candidates for any of the major positions in the 10th NASS.

He cited Shettima as saying: For the time being, he (Tinubu) said he doesn't have anyone that he prefers to have as Senate President or Speaker, but consultations are going to continue to find a solution for the party and to also make sure the party wins the upcoming governorship and Houses of Assembly elections.

Notwithstanding assertions that the Central Bank of Nigeria had approved the bills for the transaction, oil marketers claimed on Monday that they were no longer interested in the old naira notes and would not collect them from the general public. Also, it was learned that Deposit Money Banks had not yet given oil marketers any instructions about the collecting of obsolete naira notes.

Marketers of Premium Motor Spirit, often known as gasoline, and other petroleum products advised our correspondent that the Federal Government should issue more naira notes to stop confusing Nigerians.

Beatrice Ekweremadu, the spouse of former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, has denied being involved in Sonia's organ donation effort. Beatrice and her husband were both detained in the UK last year on suspicion of smuggling a young guy into the nation for kidney harvesting. On Monday, she refuted the charge in court at the Old Bailey in London, where she is defending herself together with her husband, daughter, and one doctor, Obinna Obeta.

It is said that the young guy misrepresented himself as Sonia's cousin in an unsuccessful attempt to convince medical professionals to perform an $80,000 private surgery at the Royal Free Hospital. Regarding the family's finances, Beatrice told the court that her husband took care of the house, just as she pointed out that she simply carried out domestic responsibilities which included seeing their children in school in the UK every couple of weeks.

Her husband described how they came to learn that their daughter Sonia had kidney issues when she became ill in 2919 and received a diagnosis there. Jurors were informed that Sonia travelled back to London to visit doctors at the Cromwell Hospital and the Royal Free.
