"From 1999 to 2010 All IGPs Appointed Were From The South, Everyone Accepted It Until Now" - Edo SSA

The appointment of Usman Alkali Baba as Acting Inspector General of Police has not gone down well with many, specifically from the Southern part of Nigeria.

Reacting to those who disagreess with the recent appointment, the Senior Special Adviser to The Governor of Edo State on New Media, Jack Obinyan has on his twitter account claimed that nobody complained when IGPs between 1999 to 2010 all emanated from the Southern part of Nigeria

Usman Alkali Baba's appointment has sparked mixed reactions from Nigerians as many questioned the decision to appoint someone from the North for the position since the immediate past IPG was from same region while other regions are barely represented in Buhari's government.

Recall that months ago when the President Muhamadu Buhari confirmed the appointment of the Service Chiefs, a similar reaction was on all social media.

However, Jack Obinyan has lashed out those blaming the President for appointing a Northerner by taking them back memory lane, reminding them how the Southerners dominated that particular office almost over a decade.

There is so much going on in Nigeria as it concerns Insecurity. We shouldn't be bothered by where he is from or where he isn't provided he does have the capacity to deliver and restore normalcy in the country.

What is your assessment on this? Do you really think where one comes from should count of competence rather?
